Arms To Trust

Corey Kluber at Chicago White Sox

It’s fitting that I close the last week of the regular season with a pitcher against the White Sox. It has been a common theme this season, and we will go back to the well again tonight with Kluber.

Is it possible we are seeing Kluber crank things up a notch as the postseason looms? While it is certainly possible, he has also had some friendly strikeout matchups lately. In his last four starts (home versus the Rays, home versus the Royals, at the Rays who slaughtered him, and home against these White Sox), he has posted strikeout rates of 33.3%, 43.5%, 33.3%, and 32.4%.

Even if he is the same old guy we have seen this year though…

203 IP, 31 starts, 25.9% K%, 11.7% SwStr%, 3.9% BB%, 3.26 SIERA, 44.8% GB%, 36.7% Hard%
