Best MLB Player Props for Friday, May 15th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Friday, May 15th:
- Edward Cabrera Over/Under 4.5 Hits Allowed
- Kyle Freeland Over/Under 7.5 Hits Allowed
- Blake Snell Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
Edward Cabrera OVER 4.5 Hits Allowed (+100, BetMGM)
Cabrera has allowed at least 6 hits in each of his last 6 turns through the rotation. There has been some bad luck in there – .370 BABIP, but he’s also allowed a dreadful 15% barrel rate and 43% hard-hit rate. Simply, opposing hitters are seeing him well.
The White Sox have been one of the league’s more productive offenses of late, ranking 9th in batting average and 6th in wRC+ against RHP during the early portion of May. Tonight will also be their 7th consecutive home game. This is good value on the over.
Kyle Freeland UNDER 7.5 Hits Allowed (-145, Hard Rock)
Freeland has allowed a combined 18 hits in his last two turns through the Colorado rotation. That said, opponents have a .433 BABIP against him in those two starts, which is certainly on the unlucky side for a pitcher who hasn’t allowed a ton of line drives in that span.
The Diamondbacks have struggled against southpaws of late, hitting .193 against them to begin May. Overall, they rank 25th in batting average, 25th in OPS, and 25th in wRC+ against southpaws during that stretch.
A pitcher has to be extremely ineffective to allow 8 hits in a start. It’s rather incomprehensible to think a pitcher could accomplish that feat in 3 consecutive outings. A lot would have to go wrong (again) for Freeland to allow 8 hits.
Blake Snell UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-150, BetMGM)
Snell didn’t face more than 14 batters in any of his 3 minor league rehab assignments prior to being activated for his 2026 MLB season debut against the Braves on May 9. In that outing against Atlanta, Snell only faced 18 batters and threw 77 pitches.
The Angels are certainly a much more favorable matchup than the Braves, but Snell still hasn’t completed 5 innings in any start this year. The plan for Snell’s outing against Atlanta was for him to get through 5 innings, which obviously didn’t happen. Thus, the Dodgers will likely make that Snell’s goal once again tonight.
The arm barn behind Snell is in pretty good shape, with Tanner Scott being the only reliever whom the Dodgers have used each of the last 2 days. This feels like a 5-and-dive spot for Snell on Friday.
