Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Monday, August 24th:
- Framber Valdez Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Kumar Rocker Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
- Logan Gilbert Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
Framber Valdez OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-180, theScore Bet)
Valdez has been extremely efficient of late, averaging 3.59 pitches per batter faced. The only reason he has been pulled prior to recording 18 outs in each of his last 2 starts is due to performance. He allowed 4 earned runs against the Guardians on August 12 and 4 earned runs against the Pirates on August 17.
Assuming some positive regression in terms of run prevention, Valdez should have every opportunity to get through the 6th inning to begin the new week.
Kumar Rocker UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-160, BetMGM)
BETMGMRocker has struggled to a 6.87 ERA, 5.44 xERA, 5.98 FIP, and 2.02 WHIP during August. Part of his struggles can likely be explained by the fact that he’s surpassed his previous career-high mark in workload.
Tonight, the Rangers have southpaw Jordan Montgomery rested for bulk duties behind Rocker. Given the lefty-heavy nature of the Chicago lineup, it stands to reason that Rocker will be 5-and-dive in this spot unless he’s unusually effective. Even then, the organization might be careful with his workload considering that Montgomery can cover multiple innings in relief.
Logan Gilbert UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+165, bet365)
BET365Gilbert hasn’t had the longest leash in recent weeks, and part of that can be explained by him not being particularly efficient. He’s averaging 3.93 pitches per batter faced during the last 30 days, and tonight, will have to face a patient Philadelphia lineup that is capable of working deep counts.
Seattle’s arm barn is also in good shape entering the new week, which could lead to Gilbert having a shorter leash in the 6th inning if he finds himself in a jam.
