Major League Baseball has 12 games on tap to begin the new week, starting with the Giants against the Braves at 6:05 p.m. ET.
It could be a fun night to be a hitter in many cities, with warmer temperatures and hitter-friendly winds across the league. As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers.
Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Monday, August 31st!
Best MLB Player Props for Monday, August 31st
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 PM ET on Monday, August 31st:
- Jacob deGrom Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Jackson Jobe Over/Under 14.5 Outs Recorded
- Elmer Rodriguez Over/Under 14.5 Outs Recorded
Jacob deGrom UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+113, Novig)
In his most recent outing, deGrom was tagged for 8 earned runs in 3.2 innings against the White Sox. He has struggled to a 6.67 ERA and 4.30 xERA across his last 7 starts. Due to a couple of injury scares, Texas has also been extremely careful with deGrom’s pitch count on a start-to-start basis, often going to the bullpen before he reaches 90 pitches. The Rangers have enough relief arms rested and available to begin the new week that this could be another shorter outing for deGrom. At plus money, this could be a worthwhile risk.
Jackson Jobe OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-147, Novig)
Jobe didn’t make it through 5 innings in his last outing against the Rays, but he still threw 89 pitches and faced 19 batters. Jobe struggles with his command at times, but he has great stuff. After Detroit used 4 relievers on Sunday, it’s likely that manager A.J. Hinch will give Jobe every opportunity to get 15 outs.
Elmer Rodriguez OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-165, theScore Bet)
Rodriguez was dominant in his return to the big leagues last week, recording 18 outs and facing 22 batters against the Astros. Tonight, he will get to face the Angels, an offense that has struggled mightily since losing Jo Adell at the trade deadline.
The Yankees used Ryan Yarbrough on Saturday for 60 pitches, so New York doesn’t have a clear long-relief option to piggyback Rodriguez. It’s highly probable that manager Aaron Boone will do what he can to get Rodriguez through at least the 5th inning on Monday in a favorable matchup.
