Happy Monday! Following a thrilling World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina on Sunday, Major League Baseball returns to center stage to begin the new week with a full 15-game slate on tap.
As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers. The forecast looks particularly friendly to hitters in a number of cities tonight, including Wrigley Field, where 90-degree temperatures and strong winds could make life difficult for pitchers!

Best MLB Player Props for Monday, July 20th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Monday, July 20th:
- Jacob Misiorowski Over/Under 9.5 Strikeouts
- Braxton Ashcraft Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Jameson Taillon Over/Under 12.5 Outs Recorded
Jacob Misiorowski UNDER 9.5 Strikeouts (-147, Novig)
Misiorowski had his final start before the All-Star Break skipped due to general arm fatigue. Consequently, he hasn’t pitched in a live game in nearly two weeks.
Luis Robert Jr. will return to the Mets lineup tonight, which represents another strikeout target for Misiorowski, but 10 strikeouts isn’t a layup for any MLB pitcher regardless of opponent. Since the return of Francisco Lindor, New York has been doing a good job putting the ball in play.
If Misiorowski is limited in any capacity, there is tremendous value on this under. If he’s simply rusty, there is obvious value in that scenario too.
Braxton Ashcraft UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+106, Novig)
Ashcraft is nearing his career high for innings pitched in a single season. The consequence of that is that Pittsburgh could be more careful with his workload coming out of the All-Star Break. It’s also possible that we start to see performance impacts from the fatigue that comes with the grind of throwing this many innings.
Pittsburgh’s arm barn is in relatively good shape to begin the new week. The Pirates will certainly let Ashcraft get deep into this game if he’s effective, but there are reasons to think he could have a shorter leash in the 6th inning if he runs into trouble, especially against a Yankees lineup that is heavily left-handed.
Jameson Taillon UNDER 12.5 Outs Recorded (-141, Novig)
Taillon enters play tonight with a 5.49 xERA, 6.31 FIP, and 1.30 WHIP. He’s also an extreme fly-ball pitcher who will have to navigate some extremely hitter-friendly weather conditions at Wrigley Field this evening.
Further complicating Taillon’s path to success is the fact that he’s returning from the injured list. In his minor league rehab outings, Taillon faced 14 batters and 15 batters. A reasonable projection could have him around 18 batters faced this evening, which means it’s likely to be difficult for him to get into the 5th inning unless he’s unusually effective.
