MLB Player Props for Thursday, 4/16: Best Bets & Predictions Today

What kind of performances can we expect from Josh Jung, Taylor Ward, and Gunnar Henderson? Follow along as our MLB betting analyst, Nick Galaida, breaks down three of his favorite MLB prop bets for Thursday, April 16, 2026. Get all of Nick’s picks, including more MLB plays, by subscribing to the RotoGrinders Props & Pick’em package.
Most of Thursday’s MLB action began earlier this afternoon, but there are still 4 games left to get underway as of this writing, which means plenty of betting opportunities still on the board.
It’s worth noting that there is some potential inclement MLB weather in Cleveland this evening, which could impact the start time and, possibly, how deep those starters get into the game if there is a delay. As always, keep an eye on the forecast across the country before committing to any wagers.
Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Thursday, April 16th!
Best MLB Player Props for Thursday, April 16th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:05 PM ET on Thursday, April 16th:
- Josh Jung Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases
- Taylor Ward Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Gunnar Henderson Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Josh Jung UNDER 1.5 Total Bases (-173, Caesars)
Jung has been far more patient at the plate early in 2026 than what we saw last year. His 3.3% decrease in swing rate has led to a notable spike in walk rate. Jacob Lopez has struggled with his command early this season, particularly against righties, which could lead to fewer at-bats for Jung in this spot. There is also strong wind blowing in from left field this afternoon in Sacramento, which reduces the likelihood of Jung hitting a ball over the fence. There is some value on the under on this prop.
Taylor Ward OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-107, DraftKings)
Ward had a 141 wRC+ against LHP in 2023, 147 wRC+ in 2024, and 149 wRC+ in 2025. To date in 2026, Ward owns a 151 wRC+ against southpaws. Ward went hitless against Eduardo Rodriguez on Wednesday afternoon, but he gets a good opportunity for redemption this evening against the soft-tossing Parker Messick. He has plenty of talent around him in the Baltimore lineup, too.
Gunnar Henderson OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+100, BetMGM)
We are getting a discount on this price because Henderson struggled against southpaws in 2025, but that is likely a market overcorrection. Henderson had a 137 wRC+ against LHP in 2024 when he was healthy. Early in 2026, Henderson had a 251 wRC+ against LHP. He will likely be in the 2-hole against Parker Messick, who sits in the low 90s with his fastball. This is good value.
