Happy MLB Opening Day Part 2! Following last night’s stand-alone season opener between the Yankees and Giants on Netflix, there are 11 games on tap for Thursday, with action spread all throughout the course of the day.
Early in the season it’s particularly important to keep an eye on confirmed MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as we haven’t yet seen teams settle into a pattern for lineup construction. It’s also worth noting that lineups will frequently look different when a team faces a right-handed pitcher compared to a southpaw. If looking at hitter props, positioning in the lineup can influence value dramatically.
Below, you can find my three picks for Thursday, March 26th!
Best MLB Player Props for Thursday, March 26th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 4:15 PM ET on Thursday, March 26th:
- Cristopher Sanchez Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Drew Rasmussen Over/Under 14.5 Outs Recorded
- Kyle Tucker Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Cristopher Sanchez UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-105, BetMGM)
Sanchez had an abnormal ramp-up process this year due to the World Baseball Classic. He threw 63 pitches in the knockout round against Korea but then only 50 pitches in his final tune-up outing back in Spring Training for the Phillies.
There are a lot of ways in which a pitcher can fail to get through 6 innings in a game, especially on Opening Day with a fully-rested arm barn behind him. The hitter-friendly weather in Philadelphia this afternoon only increases the likelihood that he could see a relatively early exit.
Drew Rasmussen OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-160, BetMGM)
Rasmussen threw 83 pitches in 5.2 innings against the Phillies on March 19th. The weather should be very hitter-friendly in St. Louis today, but the Cardinals don’t have a great lineup. Tampa Bay is also coming off of a season in which they historically overused their bullpen, so they aren’t likely to be eager to ask their relievers for 5+ innings on Opening Day. This is a play that should have a great chance to cash if Rasmussen can simply throw strikes.
Kyle Tucker OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-140, BetMGM)
This feels like a wildly disrespectful line for Tucker on Opening Day, with him likely slotted in at the 2-hole, directly behind Shohei Ohtani and in front of Mookie Betts. An RBI base hit will get the job done here. A walk and a run scored will get the job done. There are a number of ways in which he could collect some counting stats in a lineup that matches up extremely well against Zac Gallen, who struggled to a 4.42 FIP and 1.37 WHIP across the platoon in 2025.
