However, it’s even more important that bettors be mindful of the weather around the league today, with pitcher-friendly conditions in Chicago but 96-degree temperatures forecasted in Kansas City. The weather can have a significant impact on the run-scoring environment in certain ballparks.

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM ET on Thursday, September 3rd:

Kevin Gausman UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-138, Novig)
Gausman has struggled to a 5.14 ERA in 5 starts since being traded to the Cubs, but his 3.69 xERA and 4.10 FIP in that stretch both suggest that he’s been a little bit more unlucky than bad. His biggest issue recently has been keeping the ball in the yard – something that should be easier on Thursday at Wrigley Field since there are 10 mph winds forecasted to be blowing in from right-center field.
Gausman’s fly-ball tendencies should play well in today’s pitcher-friendly weather. If he can avoid free passes, he should have a great chance to stay under this number.
Kade Anderson UNDER 16.5 Outs Recorded (-118, BetMGM)
BETMGMAnderson faced 20 batters or fewer in 16 of his 18 starts in the minors this season. In 2 outings in the majors, he’s faced 22 batters and 19 batters – topping out at 85 pitches.
Anderson was the team’s No. 3 overall draft pick out of LSU in 2025, which means that this is his first year of professional baseball. Understandably, Seattle has been extremely cautious with his workload after he threw only 119 innings in his final collegiate campaign.
Anderson has already thrown 103.1 innings in 2026, with a full month of the regular season remaining. The Athletics haven’t been winning a lot of games since the All-Star Break, but they have been a league-average offense against southpaws – they should be able to have enough competitive at-bats to keep Anderson from getting too deep into this ballgame.
Tarik Skubal UNDER 8.5 Strikeouts (-170, FanDuel)
FANDUELSkubal owns an impressive 14.4% swinging-strike rate in 5 starts since joining the Dodgers, but he has only a 13.2% called strike percentage in that same span – one of the lowest figures among qualified starters.
The Cardinals offense rarely swings and misses against southpaws, posting the 5th-lowest swinging-strike rate during the past 30 days. Pitchers who manage high-strikeout totals against the St. Louis lineup often take advantage of their proclivity to take a lot of called strikes.
Bettors may want to wait for a confirmed lineup here to ensure no surprises, but there is value on the under here as of this writing.
