Happy Wednesday! Major League Baseball has 11 evening games on tap, beginning with the Angels against the Orioles at 6:35 PM ET.

As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers. Warm temperatures across the league could lead to a fun night of baseball for hitters!

Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Wednesday, August 5th.

Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, August 5th

Here are my top player prop bets for tonight, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM ET on Wednesday, August 5th:

Trevor Rogers OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-160, BetMGM)

Rogers has been one of the most productive pitchers in baseball of late, sporting a 1.99 ERA, 2.91 xERA, 2.27 FIP, and 1.03 WHIP across his last 8 starts. During that span, he’s done a good job suppressing quality contact – likely a function of consistently working ahead in counts.

The Angels gutted their lineup at the trade deadline, leaving them without many strong options for the stretch run of the regular season. They have 4 lefties in their lineup against Rogers, who has a 2.30 FIP and 0.96 WHIP against lefties this season.

Rogers should have every opportunity to get through 6 innings here.

Sean Burke OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-130, Novig)

Burke has steadily seen his velocity increase throughout the season. He’s posted at least a 13.3% SwStr% in 7 of his last 8 outings. He’s been consistently working ahead in counts, with a deep arsenal that allows him to miss bats against both righties and lefties.

Boston has some notable strikeout targets in tonight’s lineup too. Wilyer Abreu, Willson Contreras, Jarren Duran, Andruw Monasterio, and Connor Wong each have a 22.4% strikeout rate or worse against RHP since the beginning of June.

The White Sox have a rested arm barn, which could lead to Burke having a leash that is shorter than normal. Nevertheless, there should be enough opportunities for him to get to 6 strikeouts.

Matt McLain OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+120, BetMGM)

Add this pick with 1 click!PLACE THIS BET ONBETMGM

McLain has struggled this season, but he’s been much better against LHP than against RHP. Entering play, he owns a respectable 97 wRC+ against LHP, with better contact metrics across the board.

McLain in the 9-hole tonight puts him directly in front of Elly De La Cruz and Sal Stewart in Cincinnati’s batting order, which could increase his likelihood of scoring a run. This is good value at plus money in a hitter-friendly ballpark.
