Major League Baseball’s Friday slate began earlier this afternoon with a matchup between the Diamondbacks and Cubs at Wrigley Field, but there are still 13 games left to get underway as of this writing — meaning plenty of opportunities for the betting community to find a few plays to their liking.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Friday, April 18th!

Best MLB Player Props for Friday, April 18th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch this evening scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Friday, April 18th:

Bryan Woo OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-194, Caesars)

Seattle is going to need some length from Woo if they hope to have a chance to win. Andres Munoz, Trent Thornton, Gabe Speier, and Carlos Vargas have each been used each of the last 2 days. Collin Snider, Eduard Bazardo, and Casey Legumina have each been used 2 of the last 3 days. Simply, the Mariners need Woo to get 18 outs, and they might let him finish 6 innings even if he isn’t particularly effective in an effort to give a few relievers a day off to begin the weekend.

Hunter Dobbins UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (-135, DraftKings)

Dobbins had 5 strikeouts against the Cardinals in his first start of the season, but he generated a 14% swinging-strike rate and 45.6% chase rate in that game — both of which are likely unsustainable. Tonight, he draws a somewhat difficult strikeout matchup against a White Sox offense that has the 2nd-highest contact rate in the league on swings at pitches out of the zone. The White Sox have also taken the 9th-fewest called strikes this season. The math favors the under here.

David Peterson OVER 1.5 Earned Runs (-170, DraftKings)

Peterson owns a 2.70 ERA through 3 starts this season, but his 4.47 xERA, 4.14 FIP, and 1.38 WHIP all portend negative regression sooner rather than later. Tonight, he draws a tough matchup against a St. Louis offense that enters play ranked 5th in wRC+ against LHP in 2025. The wind is also blowing out significantly to left field at Citi Field, which is only going to make life more difficult for Peterson.
