Friday’s 15-game MLB slate began earlier this afternoon at Wrigley Field, but the rest of today’s action is scheduled for a 6:40 p.m. ET first pitch or later, giving bettors plenty of time to find a few plays to their liking. Ahead of first pitch tonight, it’s worth noting that there is the potential for some postponements across the league. Be sure to keep an eye on the weather report before locking in any wagers.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat or unlucky if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Best MLB Player Props for Friday, April 25th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Friday, April 25th:

Pablo Lopez UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-138, FanDuel)

Lopez gets a very favorable matchup on Friday, facing an Angels offense that is traveling halfway across the country after a night game on Thursday. Still, Lopez made only 1 rehab start prior to rejoining the big league rotation, and he threw only 63 pitches in that outing. It seems more probable than not that Lopez is slated for 5 innings of work this evening unless he’s abnormally efficient. There is some value on the under on his props across the board.

Cal Quantrill OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-140, DraftKings)

Quantrill has not been good to begin 2025, but there are few things in baseball more capable of helping a pitcher bust out of a slump than a trip to Seattle, which arguably is the most pitcher-friendly venue in the MLB. Quantrill threw 89 pitches in his most recent outing and has thrown as many as 90 pitches in a single start this year, so he’s definitely stretched out far enough to get through 5 frames. Expect Miami to do everything they can to get some length from him to begin the weekend.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+145, FanDuel)

Yamamoto has dazzled to a 0.93 ERA and 0.86 WHIP across his first 5 starts this season. That being said, if there was one critique of his performance to date, it would be that he hasn’t been terribly efficient. In his last 4 starts, Yamamoto is averaging 4.42 pitches per batter faced, which is the least efficient mark of any starter on the hill today. He has faced 22 batters or fewer in 3 of those 4 outings, suggesting that any amount of regression in terms of baserunners allowed could lead to a quicker-than-expected exit from the game. There is value at this price, especially against a patient Pittsburgh offense that has a tendency to work some deep counts.
