Happy Friday! Tonight’s MLB slate features 15 games, including Aaron Judge and the Yankees at Coors Field as well as a rematch of last year’s National League Championship Series between the Dodgers and Mets. Bettors and fans should have plenty of entertaining options available to them to begin their weekend!

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat or unlucky if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Friday, May 23rd!

Best MLB Player Props for Friday, May 23rd

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Friday, May 23rd:

Hunter Greene OVER 3.5 Hits Allowed (-110, DraftKings)

Greene will be making his first start since coming off of the injured list, so he is likely to face some level of workload restrictions. That being said, he still has an extremely tough matchup in front of him, pitching in a hitter-friendly venue against a Cubs offense that ranks 7th in wRC+ and 8th in batting average against RHP across the last two weeks of action. If Greene throws 4+ innings this evening, there is a decent chance this wager cashes.

Landen Roupp OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-160, DraftKings)

Roupp has quietly been a very serviceable starter in recent weeks for the Giants, posting a 3.54 ERA, 4.16 FIP, and 1.33 WHIP across his last 4 turns in the rotation. During the last month, he’s averaging an efficient 3.8 pitches per batter faced, which has helped him record 15+ outs in each of his last 3 trips to the mound. He gets a reasonably favorable matchup on Friday against Washington, an offense that ranks 14th in wRC+ across the last 14 days. He should have every chance to complete 5 frames.

Pavin Smith OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+120, DraftKings)

Smith is a little bit lower in the lineup than is ideal for this type of play, but the matchup can’t get much better, facing Miles Mikolas. This season, Mikolas owns a respectable 3.77 ERA, but he’s faced a relatively weak collection of opponents, which have likely helped those numbers. Still, he has struggled to a 4.60 FIP and 1.52 WHIP against LHB. Smith should have opportunities to make a positive impact for Arizona at the dish.
