Happy Monday! The new week of baseball begins bright and early, with a quartet of afternoon games scheduled as part of today’s 14-game MLB slate. We are officially to the back end of every team’s rotation, which means very few quality arms on the mound, potentially leading to more offense around the league.
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Best MLB Player Props for Monday, March 31st
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:10 PM ET on Monday, March 31st:
- Brady Singer Over/Under 16.5 Outs Recorded
- Michael Soroka Over/Under 14.5 Outs Recorded
- Miles Mikolas Over/Under 16.5 Outs Recorded
Brady Singer OVER 16.5 Outs Recorded (-105, BetMGM)
The Rangers’ lineup should net out as one of the best in baseball this season, but this is still a fairly playable number for Singer. Over the weekend, no team in baseball averaged fewer pitches per plate appearance than the Rangers. They also lost Josh Jung to the injured list after Friday’s game, and Josh Smith is day-to-day as well, which means we should see RHB Jonathan Ornelas in the lineup more regularly going forward.
If Ornelas is in the lineup, that should mean at least 5 righties against Singer, who finished 2024 with a 3.05 FIP and 0.92 WHIP against them. It’s also forecasted to be rather cold in Cincinnati tonight, with temperatures expected to be below 50 degrees at first pitch. Singer should have an opportunity to come back out for the 6th inning if he can avoid getting hit around too badly.
Michael Soroka OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-105, DraftKings)
Toronto’s lineup doesn’t have a bunch of over-aggressive hitters, but they still struggled to work the count this past weekend against Baltimore, averaging fewer than 4 pitches per plate appearance in 3 of the 4 games of that series. Soroka was stretched out to 92 pitches and worked into the 5th inning in his final Spring Training start. Notably, he was at only 48 pitches through 4 innings before things fell apart in the 5th inning, forcing his early exit.
This evening, Soroka should have every opportunity to get through 5 innings given how much he’s stretched out and that teams generally try to avoid over-taxing their bullpen on the first day of a series. This is great value, despite him not having overpowering stuff.
Miles Mikolas OVER 16.5 Outs Recorded (-120, BetMGM)
The primary concern here is that the Cardinals’ arm barn is completely rested, having used Steven Matz for 51 pitches on Sunday, which saved every other reliever from being used. That being said, this is still a good matchup for Mikolas, who was routinely allowed to work into the 6th inning last season despite not being very effective.
The weather forecast is slightly pitcher-friendly tonight in St. Louis as well, as temperatures are expected to be in the mid-50s with a slight breeze blowing in from left field. It would be surprising to see Mikolas not come out for the 6th inning.
