MLB Player Props Today

Brandon Williamson u4.5 strikeouts (-125), BetMGM

Brandon Williamson totaled six strikeouts in his 2023 MLB debut against the Colorado Rockies, but he has come back to reality in each of his two subsequent outings – with exactly three strikeouts in both of those starts. In his last two trips to the mound, Williamson owns a 14.0% strikeout rate and has walked more batters than he has struck out. In those two starts, Williamson’s first-pitch strike rate is below 60.0%, meaning that he is frequently working behind in counts as well. The primary concern here is that the Milwaukee Brewers rank 28th in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching since May 15. Do not bet the house here, but the under on Williamson’s strikeout prop will continue to be a system play every time it is posted at over/under 4.5 on the market.

Luis Severino u5.5 strikeouts (-144), FanDuel

Luis Severino has totaled exactly five strikeouts in each of his two starts since returning to the big leagues in late May. Today, he gets a tough matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers, which rank 13th in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching as a team since May 15. Moreover, Severino’s negative platoon splits against left-handed batters are going to be difficult to overcome this evening against a Los Angeles lineup that is likely to feature at least five left-handed batters. Take the under here.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Jose Ramirez less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks

Jose Ramirez put the ball in play each time he stepped in the batter’s box on Thursday, so we are running things back with him again on Friday. This evening, he will face Bailey Ober, who owns an unimpressive 21.8% strikeout rate against left-handed batters in 2023. Ramirez enters play tonight with a sterling 8.0% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. We will take our chances against the Minnesota Twins bullpen in the latter frames.
