MLB Player Props Today

Cole Ragans o15.5 Outs Recorded (-115), DraftKings

In his last nine turns through the rotation, Cole Ragans has only failed to eclipse this market number once. Notably, he has only been removed from the mound in the middle of the inning (6th inning or earlier) once in 10 outings since joining the Kansas City Royals – a sign of trust from his manager to get through any potential issues that arise later in games. This is a hyper-proximity matchup, which is always somewhat of a concern. Yet, the Houston Astros rank only 16th in OPS and 8th in ISO against southpaws during the month of September. Ragans has routinely been throwing north of 100 pitches and has not been pulled at less than 92 pitches in any of his last nine starts. He should be able to get the job done here.

Cole Ragans u5.5 Strikeouts (-105), BetMGM

Since the beginning of August, Cole Ragans has eclipsed this market number eight times in nine starts. However, this is the first time that he will have to pitch in a hyper-proximity matchup, and it comes against the contact-oriented Houston Astros no less. During the month of September, only three teams have struck out less often against southpaws than the Astros. According to props.cash, 10 of the last 15 left-handed starting pitchers to face the Astros have gone under their pregame market number for strikeouts. Do not bet the house here, but the under is the smart lean.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Jose Ramirez Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Entering play on Friday, Dean Kremer has struck out only 19.7% of the left-handed batters that he has faced in 2023. Jose Ramirez ranks in the 99th percentile in strikeout percentage and the 94th percentile in whiff rate this year among qualified hitters. His one Achilles heel at the dish is a tendency to chase bad pitches on occasion. However, Kremer rarely gets hitters to swing at pitches out of the zone – ranking in only the 11th percentile in chase rate this season. Ramirez has a good chance to avoid a strikeout tonight.
