MLB Player Props Today

Matt Manning u3.5 Strikeouts (+110), PointsBet

On the season, Matt Manning owns a pedestrian 13.1% strikeout rate against left-handed batters. The last time the Boston Red Sox faced a right-handed starting pitcher, they had six lefties in the lineup. Since August 1, Boston ranks 12th in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching despite facing some talented arms during that stretch. At plus money, this is a worthwhile risk on Saturday afternoon, especially given the hitter-friendly playing conditions at Fenway Park.

Chris Bassitt u18.5 Outs Recorded (-165), BetMGM

According to props.cash, Chris Bassitt has only eclipsed this market number in nine of his 24 turns through the rotation in 2023. This afternoon, he will have to contend with a Chicago Cubs lineup that ranks 1st in OPS, 3rd in ISO, 5th in walk rate, and 3rd in strikeout percentage since August 1. Simply, this is an extremely poor matchup for Bassitt. Even if he manages to turn in a respectable outing, it is more likely than not that his day is done after only six innings – take the under here.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Jose Ramirez Less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Jose Ramirez has some of the best bat-to-ball skills in all of Major League Baseball, evidenced by his 99th-percentile strikeout rate and 94th-percentile whiff percentage this season. Today, he will have to deal with a bullpen day from the Tampa Bay Rays, but Ramirez is more than talented enough to avoid striking out in this spot. Trust him to get the job done for us today.
