MLB Player Props Today

Andres Gimenez u0.5 strikeouts (+100), DraftKings

This line is simply mispriced at even money. Entering play on Sunday, Andres Gimenez has struck out in only 13.6% of his plate appearances against left-handed pitching in 2023. Martin Perez has struck out only 17.3% of the left-handed batters he has faced this year. Across his last five starts, Perez has a 5.5% swinging-strike rate, which is among the lowest in baseball for qualified starting pitchers.

Jose Ramirez u0.5 strikeouts (-155), DraftKings

Jose Ramirez has an extremely favorable matchup against Martin Perez today, making this a worthwhile risk despite the juice. Ramirez has struck out in only 11.7% of his plate appearances against southpaws this season and ranks in the 99th percentile in strikeout percentage overall. Perez has allowed a 91.7% in-the-zone contact percentage across his last five outings, while simultaneously generating only a 25.9% swing% on pitches outside of the strike zone. Expect a disciplined, high-contact hitter such as Ramirez to put the ball in play each time he steps in the box today. We will take our chances against the Texas Rangers bullpen in the latter innings.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Josh Naylor less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

When MLB fans think of high-contact hitters, Josh Naylor is not often top of mind. However, he enters play on Sunday ranked in the 86th percentile in strikeout percentage this year. Facing southpaws, Naylor has struck out in only 11.9% of his plate appearances. In a favorable matchup against Martin Perez today, Naylor is likely to have little trouble putting the ball in play during his first few trips to the plate. Similar to the analysis for his teammates above, we are willing to take our chances in the final few frames against the Texas Rangers bullpen.
