MLB Player Props Today
- Ty Blach u3.5 Strikeouts
- Freddie Freeman u0.5 Strikeouts
- Mookie Betts Less Than 0.5 Strikeouts
Ty Blach u3.5 Strikeouts (-156), FanDuel
It is genuinely incomprehensible that Ty Blach is able to continue getting starts at the big-league level. Entering play on Thursday, Blach has struck out only 10.5% of right-handed batters he has faced this year and only 6.5% of left-handed batters. Blach has not had more than two strikeouts in any trip to the mound in 2023, despite facing as many as 23 batters in a start. Today, he will have to contend with a Los Angeles Dodgers offense with the 9th-fewest strikeouts against southpaws since July 15th. Nothing is ever a lock, but it is difficult to see a path to this ticket losing.
Freddie Freeman u0.5 Strikeouts (-120), DraftKings
Every year, Freddie Freeman makes it a goal to strike out fewer than 100 times. Tonight’s matchup against Ty Blach should help him in that pursuit. Blach has struck out an incomprehensibly-low 6.5% of the left-handed batters he has faced this year. Freeman has struck out in only 18.4% of his plate appearances against left-handed pitchers this season – take the under here.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Mookie Betts Less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Consistent with the theme of this article, we are fading Ty Blach in this spot. Mookie Betts ranks in the 84th percentile in strikeout rate among qualified hitters in 2023 and gets a dream matchup this evening against Blach, who has struck out only 10.5% of the right-handed hitters he has faced this season. Betts has struck out in only 14.8% of his plate appearances against southpaws this year, making him a trustworthy option on Thursday.
