Happy Thursday! Today’s 5-game slate means far fewer options than normal for the betting community, but we are still here to provide information to help you take an informed risk with your money. The action began earlier today in the Motor City, but four games are still yet to get underway as of this writing.

Jose Ramirez u0.5 Strikeouts (-105), DraftKings
Dylan Cease is often thought of as a strikeout maestro, but he has rather stark splits across the platoon, at least in terms of strikeout percentage. Facing right-handed hitters, his strikeout percentage is 8.2% higher than it is against left-handed hitters. Jose Ramirez enters play on Thursday ranked in the 99th percentile in strikeout rate among qualified hitters, having only struck out in 9.6% of his plate appearances. At nearly even-money, this is good value on one of the league’s best contact hitters.
Mike Tauchman u0.5 Strikeouts (+135), DraftKings
Mike Tauchman is not exactly a contact-oriented hitter, but he has a much better approach against right-handed hurlers, which gives him value in this spot against the soft-tossing Miles Mikolas. On the season, Mikolas has struck out only 17.2% of the left-handed batters that he has seen. Tauchman has struck out in only 20.7% of his plate appearances against right-handed pitching. Trust Tauchman to make contact each time he steps in the box this evening.

Steven Kwan less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Steven Kwan has struck out in only 11.1% of his plate appearances in 2023, which puts him in the 98th percentile among qualified hitters. Since July 5, Kwan has struck out in only 5.0% of his plate appearances and has not struck out in back-to-back games even once during that time period. After going down on strikes yesterday afternoon, we are more than willing to trust Kwan to get the job done for us in this spot.
