The Braves are hoping to push this series to a decisive Game 5 on Saturday. The Phillies are hoping to punch their ticket to their second consecutive National League Championship Series with a win.

MLB Player Props Today

Spencer Strider u8.5 Strikeouts (-135), BetMGM

Tonight will be the second time in less than a week and the fourth time in less than a month that Spencer Strider will be facing the Phillies lineup — an exceedingly rare situation at the professional level. Strider had only eight strikeouts against this lineup in Game 1 across seven innings of work and is likely to be on a shorter leash tonight with Atlanta’s season hanging in the balance. Moreover, Strider is primarily a fastball-slider pitcher, meaning that he does not have many different ways to offer “new” looks to opposing hitters on Thursday. Factoring in that Strider is poor at controlling the run game and there could be extra incentive for Manager Brian Snitker to go to the bullpen tonight in a high-stress situation. The under is a strong look here.

Ranger Suarez u11.5 Outs Recorded (-128), FanDuel

Ranger Suarez was as dominant as he possibly could have been in Game 1, but he was still only trusted to record 11 outs. If Suarez can allow only two baserunners and still get pulled before completing the fourth inning, it stands to reason that he is in for another very quick hook in Game 4 with a rested bullpen behind him and a trip to the National League Championship Series being the reward for a win this evening. Suarez struggled mightily during the regular season, and his numbers only got worse each subsequent time he went through the order in a game. It would not be surprising to see Manager Rob Thompson limit Suarez to three innings or less in Game 4.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Spencer Strider Less Than 17.5 Outs Recorded

Spencer Strider has completed seven innings in each of his last three starts against the Phillies, but that could change tonight, given the gravity of the situation at hand. Strider was mostly effective, in terms of run prevention, in the series opener, but he struggled to control the running game. On Thursday, it is likely that Philadelphia will be extremely aggressive on the basepaths once again as they look to get into the Atlanta bullpen, which was among the worst in baseball down the stretch of the regular season. In an elimination game, this market number is simply too high – even for Strider.
