MLB Player Props Today

Brandon Pfaadt u3.5 Strikeouts (-105), BetMGM

Brandon Pfaadt pitched well in his most recent start against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but there is evidently still a significant lack of trust in his abilities, judging by the fact that he was pulled after only 42 pitches with a 2-0 series lead. Tonight, the script is reversed, with the Arizona Diamondbacks trailing by two games in the NLCS. Following an off-day yesterday, Manager Torey Lovullo has all of his high-leverage and middle-relief options rested and available at the earliest sign of trouble for Game 3. Arizona’s season is essentially on the line this evening, meaning that Pfaadt could be in store for an extremely short outing.

Andrew Heaney u3.5 Strikeouts (-156), FanDuel

Facing the Baltimore Orioles in the Wild Card round, Andrew Heaney had only one strikeout in 3.2 innings of work. Following the All-Star break, the Houston Astros had the 4th-lowest strikeout rate of any team in baseball against left-handed pitching, making them an even tougher matchup than the Orioles. Heaney has not thrown more than 56 pitches in a game since August 29, and he has not pitched in any live game in 12 days heading into Game 4. The expectations for him this evening should be extremely low.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Corey Seager More Than 1.5 Total Bases, PrizePicks

In three games to begin the ALCS, Corey Seager is 2-for-13 with four strikeouts. This is a stark misalignment with his production from the first two rounds of this year’s playoffs, in which he was 7-for-14 at the dish. Seager gets a favorable matchup tonight in his home ballpark with the roof open against Jose Urquidy and an underwhelming Houston relief corps. Do not be surprised if he has a bounce back performance in Game 4.
