MLB Player Props Today
- Steven Kwan u0.5 Strikeouts
- Max Scherzer u4.5 Hits Allowed
- Jose Ramirez Less Than 0.5 Strikeouts
Steven Kwan u0.5 Strikeouts (-110), DraftKings
Despite being a left-handed hitter, Steven Kwan has a lower strikeout rate against southpaws in 2023 than he does against right-handed pitching. Overall, Kwan ranks in the 98th percentile in strikeout percentage, 100th percentile in whiff rate, and 90th percentile in chase rate among qualified hitters. He will face the erratic Yusei Kikuchi, who has recorded four strikeouts or fewer in three of his last five trips to the mound. Trust Kwan to get the job done for us in this spot.
Max Scherzer u4.5 Hits Allowed (+120), BetMGM
Max Scherzer is one of the greatest competitors in MLB history. Nothing revitalizes him and motivates him more than playing for a winning baseball club, which he has the opportunity to do once again after being traded to the Texas Rangers at the end of July. After a rocky first inning in his Texas debut, Scherzer settled in to finish with nine strikeouts across six strong innings of work. Since July 15th, the Oakland Athletics rank in the bottom half of baseball in OPS and nearly every positive batted ball metric available. At plus-money, this is a worthwhile risk on Tuesday.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Jose Ramirez Less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
When people first think of Jose Ramirez, his power and his right hook are the two things that likely come to mind first. However, equally deserving of recognition is his impressive bat-to-ball skills. Entering play, Ramirez has struck out in only 12.2% of his plate appearances against left-handed pitching. Among qualified hitters, he ranks in the 99th percentile in strikeout percentage, 94th percentile in whiff rate, and 60th percentile in chase rate. Yusei Kikuchi relies more on swings-and-misses in the zone for strikeouts than he does getting hitters to chase bad pitches. If Ramirez can lay off the breaking stuff this evening, he should be able to deliver here.
