MLB Player Props Today
- Max Scherzer u6.5 Strikeouts
- CJ Abrams to Record a Stolen Base
- Nolan Schanuel Less Than 0.5 Strikeouts
Max Scherzer u6.5 Strikeouts (-148), FanDuel
According to props.cash, 12 of the last 13 right-handed pitchers to face the Houston Astros have gone under on their pre-game strikeout prop. During that time period, the Astros have struck out at a league-best 14.2% rate against right-handed pitching. The next-best team in that stretch is the Miami Marlins, which have struck out in 17.0% of such plate appearances. Simply, there is no team in baseball seeing the baseball better right now than the Astros. Max Scherzer is Max Scherzer, but Houston is reminding everyone who they are as well. Take the under in this spot.
CJ Abrams to Record a Stolen Base (+170), DraftKings
We tried to run a +205 play on CJ Abrams yesterday, but he was out of the lineup. Today, we found another spot to get him in this article, with great value on him to swipe a bag. Entering play on Wednesday, Abrams has 38 stolen bases for the year and has been caught only three times. This evening, the New York Mets have Omar Narvaez behind the dish, who has one of the slowest pop times among qualified catchers – ranking 56th out of 78 players at his position. If Abrams can get on base tonight, he should have a good chance to cash this ticket for us.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Nolan Schanuel Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Despite only playing 14 games at the big-league level, it is abundantly clear that Nolan Schanuel has one of the most disciplined approaches in the game. Through his first 66 plate appearances, he has walked 18.2% of the time and struck out only 12.1% of the time. He has been especially tough for right-handed pitchers to strike out and tonight gets to face Kyle Gibson, who owns a pedestrian 19.8% strikeout rate against left-handed hitters in 2023. This is a worthwhile risk.
