Tuesday’s MLB slate features 15 games, beginning at 6:40 p.m. ET. All 30 teams are scheduled to be in action this evening, which means plenty of betting opportunities on the board!

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Tuesday, August 5th!

Best MLB Player Props for Tuesday, August 5

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Tuesday, August 5th:

Logan Allen OVER 16.5 Outs Recorded (-120, BetMGM)

The Mets offense has struggled mightily against southpaws of late. During the last 30 days, they rank 28th in wRC+, 29th in OPS, and 28th in ISO against LHP. They haven’t been much in recent weeks either, ranking 27th in wRC+, 27th in OPS, and 17th in ISO during the last two weeks.

Allen is the beneficiary of this favorable matchup. Allen hasn’t been particularly strong in terms of run prevention, but he’s consistently given Cleveland a chance to win when he’s been on the mound. Entering play on Tuesday, Allen has pitched into the 6th inning in each of his last 10 outings, never allowing more than 4 earned runs in that span. He could be asked for length once again, given Cleveland’s taxed bullpen situation.

Yu Darvish OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (+145, BetMGM)

There is a real possibility that the Diamondbacks stack the top of their lineup with left-handed hitters, which prompts the Padres to go to their bullpen earlier than usual. However, this is simply great value for Darvish to pitch into the 6th inning considering that he just faced 23 batters and completed 7 innings in his most recent turn through the rotation. Darvish has struggled across the platoon since being activated from the injured list, but he’s also been extremely efficient, averaging only 3.5 pitches per batter faced. If he’s even remotely effective on Tuesday, he should have an opportunity to come out for the 6th inning.

Willson Contreras OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+100, DraftKings)

Place this pick with 1 click!PLACE THIS BET ONDRAFTKINGS

Contreras has been seeing the ball extremely well since the All-Star Break, hitting .271 with a 148 wRC+. Notably, his contact-quality metrics in that span are off of the charts. He has a 19% barrel rate, 59.5% hard-hit rate, and 94.5 mph average exit velocity. Contreras continues to hit in the 4-hole for the Cardinals as well, which puts him in prime position to collect an RBI knock on any given night. This is great value at even money.
