Tuesday’s MLB action began earlier this afternoon in the nation’s capital, with the first of two games today between the Guardians and Nationals as part of a doubleheader. The good news is that there are still 14 games left to get underway, even after the Tigers and Rockies were postponed. That means plenty of opportunities for fans and bettors to find a few wagers to their liking ahead of first pitch this evening.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Tuesday, May 6th!

Best MLB Player Props for Tuesday, May 6th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Tuesday, May 6th:

Colin Rea UNDER 16.5 Outs Recorded (+100, bet365)

Rea recorded 18 outs in his most recent start, but he still only threw 73 pitches. Prior to that, Rea had not made it past 5 innings in any start, and he had only once thrown more than 69 pitches. The Giants haven’t been tearing the cover off of the ball against RHP of late, but they are still a capable offense, and the Cubs have a completely rested arm barn going into tonight’s matchup. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Rea be utilized as a 5-and-dive option.

Andy Pages UNDER 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-150, BetMGM)

Pages has been white hot in recent weeks, batting .429 since April 22nd, but he still hasn’t been hitting the ball particularly hard during that stretch. It appears that he’s mostly benefited from some unsustainable good fortune on balls in play, with a .459 BABIP across his last 51 plate appearances. Cal Quantrill is extremely hittable, but he rarely walks righties. Even with Pages hitting in the 2-hole this evening, this is a tall number, which means there is some value on the under.

Tyler Anderson OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-120, bet365)

Anderson isn’t the most reliable arm in the big leagues, but he gets a very favorable matchup against a Blue Jays offense that has been atrocious against southpaws of late, with a 63 wRC+ across the last 14 days that ranks 22nd. The Blue Jays are also one of the more aggressive offenses in baseball, which means they are either getting guys on base or making outs early in counts on a regular basis. If Anderson is able to keep the ball in the yard, he should have every opportunity to get through 6 innings.
