Happy Wednesday! Major League Baseball had a few afternoon games on tap earlier today, but there are still 11 contests left to get underway as of this writing. Of course, that means plenty of betting opportunities still on the board for anyone who was stuck at work or running errands during the day.
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.
Below, you can find my 3 picks for Wednesday, August 27th!

Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, August 27
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM ET on Wednesday, August 27th:
- Nolan McLean Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
- Alex Bregman Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Trevor Story Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Nolan McLean OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-120, DraftKings)

McLean has been electric in his first two starts in the big league, striking out 15 batters and allowing only 2 earned runs in 12.1 innings of work. He will get to face an aggressive Philadelphia offense that ranks 4th in swing% during the last 14 days. McLean hasn’t been particularly efficient since being called up, but New York will likely take as many outs as they can get from him this evening given the state of their bullpen, having used Tyler Rogers, Ryan Helsley, Brooks Raley, and Gregory Soto each two of the last three days. If McLean is remotely efficient on Wednesday, he should have a chance to at least come out for the 6th inning.
Alex Bregman OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-135, BetMGM)

Bregman has been hot in August, hitting .309 with a 139 wRC+ in 99 plate appearances. He will get to face southpaw Dietrich Enns to begin the game for the Orioles. Bregman has mashed left-handed pitching in 2025 to the tune of a .381 batting average and a 178 wRC+. Hitting in the 2-hole on Wednesday, he should have opportunities to make a positive impact with the bat in this matchup.
Trevor Story OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-120, DraftKings)

Story went through a mid-summer slump that threatened to have him benched at one point, but he had a 2-hit game on July 29 and has been one of the better hitters in all of baseball since that point. In his last 108 plate appearances, Story is hitting .320 with a 162 wRC+. Hitting directly behind Bregman in Boston’s lineup, Story’s success is correlated with his.
