Wednesday’s MLB action began earlier this afternoon with quite a few travel day contests, but there are still 5 games left to get underway as of this writing. Of course, that means that there are still plenty of betting opportunities on the board as well!

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Wednesday, August 6th!

Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, August 6

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:45 PM ET on Wednesday, August 6th:

Jeffrey Springs UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-106, FanDuel)

Springs has completed 6 innings in 4 of his last 5 turns through the rotation, but it’s worth noting that he’s benefited from a likely unsustainable .241 BABIP in that span. His good fortune on balls in play looks even more unsustainable considering that he’s allowed more line drives than the league average in that span – balls in play that have a high expected batting average.

Springs has also struggled with his efficiency of late, averaging 4.01 pitches per batter faced during the last 30 days. The Nationals haven’t been great against southpaws in recent weeks, but the Athletics have a rested arm barn, and Springs is due for some regression – two factors that could contribute to an early hook.

Jonathan Cannon OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-115, DraftKings)

Cannon is coming off of back-to-back poor outings in which he allowed 11 earned runs across 10.1 innings of work. However, he had been throwing the ball well prior to that, with a 2.66 ERA, 3.90 FIP, and 1.33 WHIP across his previous 4 turns in the rotation. During the last 30 days, Cannon has been very efficient, averaging only 3.65 pitches per batter faced. He’s been working ahead in the count consistently and limiting quality contact against him. On Wednesday, he gets to pitch in the most pitcher-friendly venue in baseball. He should have a chance to work into the 6th inning.

Matt Olson OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-120, DraftKings)

Place this pick with 1 click!PLACE THIS BET ONDRAFTKINGS

Olson has been productive against southpaws in 2025, hitting .271 with a 109 wRC+. This is consistent with what we saw from him last year as well, when he had a .263 batting average and 129 wRC+ in same-sided matchups. Tonight, he will have to deal with Jose Quintana, who has struggled to a 5.74 FIP against left-handed hitters this year. Olson should have opportunities to accrue some counting stats this evening, hitting in the 3-hole in a favorable matchup.
