Wednesday’s MLB slate features 15 games. The action begins at 12:05 PM ET in the nation’s capital, with a meeting between the Guardians and Nationals. There are 7 afternoon games scheduled across the league, with the other 8 games scheduled for a 6:45 PM ET or later first pitch.
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.
Below, you can find my 3 picks for Wednesday, May 7th!

Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, May 7th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:05 PM ET on Wednesday, May 7th:
- Framber Valdez Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Cristopher Sanchez Over/Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed
- Bryson Stott Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Framber Valdez OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-135, DraftKings)
Valdez was forced from his last start after only 5 innings after allowing 4 earned runs and 9 baserunners in an ineffective showing against the White Sox. Still, he averaged a reasonably efficient 3.8 pitches per batter faced in that game. Over the last month (a span of 29 innings), Valdez has still been one of the more efficient pitchers in baseball, averaging 3.7 pitches per batter faced.

Today, he draws a favorable matchup against the Brewers — an offense that has a 70 wRC+ against southpaws during the last 2 weeks of action (ranking 21st). The Brewers have one of the more patient lineups in baseball, but Valdez does a good job working ahead in the count, which should allow him to remain efficient. This is good value for a talented pitcher coming off of an underwhelming outing.
Cristopher Sanchez OVER 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-170, DraftKings)
Despite a worrisome forearm ailment in late April, Sanchez appears to have avoided a significant injury and ended up avoiding a trip to the injured list altogether. However, it remains to be seen if he’s truly 100% healthy.

Last week, Sanchez lasted only 5 innings against the Nationals, walking 3 batters and allowing a pair of earned runs. He gets a favorable matchup against the Rays today. Across the last 2 weeks, the Rays have a 36 wRC+ against southpaws, which ranks 26th. Still, this game will be played in one of the most hitter-friendly venues in baseball, with temperatures forecasted in the mid-80s and a slight wind blowing out towards center field. All it takes is a bloop and a blast for the Rays to put a pair of runs up against Sanchez here.
Bryson Stott OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-110, DraftKings)
Following a white-hot end to April, Stott has struggled to begin May, hitting only .100 in 20 plate appearances. The good news for him is that he has a great opportunity to snap out of that mini funk today, playing in hitter-friendly weather conditions in Tampa.

This isn’t the most favorable matchup for Stott, facing Shane Baz, who has been good against lefties, but this is great value for any player who is slotted into the leadoff spot for his respective team. There are a number of ways in which this ticket could cash tonight.
