MLB PrizePicks Predictions Today: Top Plays for Wednesday, September 4th
Traditional MLB DFS formats aren’t the only way to profit from daily fantasy baseball. MLB PrizePicks is a great fantasy pick’em site where we can take today’s projections versus theirs and combine two or more baseball predictions for sizeable payouts.
In this space, we’ll explore a few PrizePicks plays for the upcoming MLB slate. This article isn’t the be-all, end-all of great plays or a recommendation for a full ticket; it’s simply a starting place for you to explore thinking about the game within the game. Maybe you want to scatter these plays across entries. Maybe there are only two or three you think are worth playing. Daily fantasy pick’em gives us the flexibility to make only the plays in which we think there is value rather than being forced to create a full lineup while competing against the best DFS players in the industry.
PrizePicks is daily fantasy baseball made simple, and our MLB PrizePicks picks tool makes the process even simpler.

MLB PrizePicks Predictions for Wednesday, September 4th
- Shota Imanaga MORE Than 7.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)
- Nathan Eovaldi MORE Than 5.5 Hits Allowed (DEMON)
- Spencer Arrighetti MORE Than 2.5 Walks Allowed (DEMON)
Shota Imanaga MORE Than 7.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)
Our projections don’t love this play, as we have Shota Imanaga projected for 6.8 Ks, but I do. Imanaga has a 25% K rate this season with excellent command (1.41 BB/9), while the Pirates projected lineup has a 25% K rate against lefties. The way to get to Imanaga is through fly balls, but this Pirates lineup has just a .134 ISO on a 23.7% fly-ball rate against lefties. The Cubs have shown that they want Imanaga to go 7 IP, and this is a great spot for him to get there, which is great for us to get to 8 Ks.
Nathan Eovaldi MORE Than 5.5 Hits Allowed (DEMON)
Nathan Eovaldi isn’t a guy that we pick on, but the Yankees are a great lineup with a 51% hard-hit rate against righties to Eovaldi’s 50% rate allowed. These Yankees don’t strike out much, and Eovaldi doesn’t walk hitters much, so there should be a lot of hard-hit balls in play against Eovaldi, who’s gone 7, 6, and 7 IP over his last 3 starts. We’re not picking on Eovaldi so much as we’re using the greatness of the Yankees to exploit his volume.
Spencer Arrighetti MORE Than 2.5 Walks Allowed (DEMON)
Spencer Arrighetti has only walked more than 2 batters once over his last 7 starts, but his 54.7% rate of throwing pitches in the zone over that stretch is in line with the 53.4% he landed prior to this stretch, so he isn’t actually throwing more strikes; he’s just getting more chases. Overall, he’s allowed 4.13 BB/9 and faces a sneaky low-K lineup in the Reds. In the best home run ballpark in baseball, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Arrighetti doesn’t throw many strikes to avoid contact. We have him projected for 2.4 walks, so this is tight.
All projections referenced are accurate at the time of writing but subject to change.
This is a far better DFS slate than it is a PrizePicks slate. Our pick‘em tool shows some edge on standard projections, but the DEMONs are tough to exploit. I’m probably not playing half of my normal volume today.
