MLB Parlay Piece for September 1, 2023
- Under 8.5
- Marcell Ozuna 2+ Total Bases
- Julio Urias u5.5 Strikeouts
Under 8.5 (-120)
The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers are two of the best offenses in the big leagues, but they will both face quality starting pitching tonight. Max Fried and Julio Urias are two of the most talented southpaws in baseball, which gives this game a decent chance of being relatively low-scoring. Factor in that both bullpens are extremely well-rested and it is even easier to see a path to the under cashing this evening.
Marcell Ozuna 2+ Total Bases (+125)
Marcell Ozuna has been on a different planet during the last two weeks. Since August 21, he has a hit in each of his 10 games played – posting a .459 batting average and a 1.632 OPS in that stretch. On the season, Ozuna has been at his best against left-handed pitching. Tonight, he will get to face Julio Urias, has allowed a .257 batting average and struggled to a 4.23 FIP across the platoon in 2023. At plus-money, this is a worthwhile inclusion in today’s longshot parlay.
Julio Urias u5.5 Strikeouts (-146)
According to props.cash, nine of the last 12 left-handed starting pitchers to face the Atlanta Braves have gone under their pregame market number for strikeouts. During the month of August, the Braves struck out at the fifth-lowest rate of any team in Major League Baseball against southpaws. The under looks like a strong look once again on Friday night with Urias on the bump.
