Football season has returned, which means that sportsbooks will have more attention on those larger markets compared to the smaller handles on Major League Baseball. Fortunately for the betting community, all money spends the same. One matchup with a healthy amount of betting value on Saturday is today’s contest between the Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. EST.

Playing long shot parlays each day, these results are within the parameters of what is expected. As we highlight every day, these plays have been profitable if played as individual tickets.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 101-84-1 (54.5%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

MLB Parlay Piece for August 26, 2023

Cincinnati Reds Moneyline (+108)

Entering play on Saturday, the Cincinnati Reds have lost back-to-back contests by a combined three runs. Today, they get to face Zach Davies, who last pitched in the big leagues on July 18. In his last seven turns through the rotation at the big league level, Davies owns an unsightly 9.46 ERA, 5.37 FIP, and has only thrown 51.0% first-pitch strikes. Fernando Cruz has not allowed a run across his last 8.1 innings of work. He should afford the Reds an opportunity to strike first in this matchup.

Nick Martini 2+ Total Bases (+130)

From August 2 to the end of his minor league stint, Nick Martini batted .309, with seven of his seventeen hits in that span going for extra bases. Zach Davies has allowed a .302 opponent batting average to left-handed hitters in 2023, struggling to a 5.00 FIP and 1.70 WHIP across the platoon. Martini is well-positioned for a big night at the dish in this spot.

Christian Walker 2+ Total Bases (+110)

Christian Walker has only collected multiple total bases in one of his last eight games played. Simply, that is an aberration in the data, and his slump is unlikely to continue for much longer. Prior to his recent cold stretch, Walker had multiple total bases in 12 of his last 22 contests. He had amassed at least two total bases in 57 of his first 113 games this year (50.4%). In a favorable matchup on Saturday, Walker is a worthwhile inclusion in this long shot parlay.
