On Thursday, there are only four evening games on tap for MLB fans, but that doesn’t mean that there is no value for the betting community! Following an exciting afternoon of baseball, there are three east coast games as part of today’s evening slate, with the final action of the day taking place in Hollywood.

In the last seven days alone, we have cashed a +758 parlay, a +837 parlay, and a +711 parlay. We have had good fortune of late when we run these same-game-parlays on games involving the Los Angeles Dodgers, so we are going to try our hand in that context once again!

Not counting the All-Star Game, we have cashed eight tickets in this article, narrowly missed 23 winners, and had 18 tickets seemingly dead on arrival. Playing longshot parlays each day, these results are within the parameters of what is expected. As we highlight every day, these plays have been exceptionally profitable if played as individual tickets.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 82-61-1 (57.9%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+970) look for August 10, focusing on today’s matchup between the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers!

MLB Parlay Piece for August 9, 2023

Colorado Rockies Moneyline (+320)

At +320, the Colorado Rockies are one of the biggest underdogs of the MLB season to date. Call me crazy, but there is a ton of value here. First of all, Clayton Kershaw will be making his return to the bump for the Los Angeles Dodgers this evening without the benefit of a rehab outing. His last game-action came on June 27 against these same Rockies. This is also an emotional trap game for the Dodgers, which are coming off of back-to-back high-intensity wins over the Arizona Diamondbacks. There is no doubt that the Dodgers are the more talented team in this matchup, but baseball can have extreme variance in small sample sizes – do not be surprised if we see an “unexpected” outcome in this game tonight.

Ty Blach u3.5 Strikeouts (-150)

On Thursday night, MLB fans will be treated to another trial in the Ty Blach experience. In 26.0 innings to begin the year, he owns an incomprehensibly-low 9.4% strikeout rate. Blach pairs 5th-percentile fastball velocity with 1st-percentile extension and worse-than-league-average spin rates to fool absolutely nobody on the mound. Blach hasn’t collected more than two strikeouts in any of his trips to the mound this season – don’t expect that to change this evening.

Freddie Freeman to Record a Hit (-350)

According to props.cash, Freddie Freeman has recorded a hit in 89 of his 113 games played this year, which translates to implied odds of -371. Thus, there is still a slight edge here relative to the market price of -350. Tonight, Freeman gets to face Ty Blach, who has allowed a .267 opponent batting average to left-handed hitters this year. Freeman enters play on Thursday with a .353 batting average, 1.128 OPS, and a 203 wRC+ against southpaws. Trust Freeman to deliver a base knock for us in this spot.
