Friday’s MLB action began earlier today with an afternoon affair between the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs. Still, there are 14 games left on this evening’s slate, leaving plenty of opportunities for the betting community to get their action locked in to start the weekend fun!

Since we began posting this article, we have had nine near misses, three cashed tickets, and five parlays that were seemingly dead on arrival – nothing unexpected when consistently betting parlays.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable, which we have achieved to date. Overall, these plays are 29-21 (58.0%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+751) look for June 16, focusing on today’s matchup between the Tampa Bay Rays and San Diego Padres!

MLB Parlay Piece for June 16, 2023

Shane McClanahan 5+ Strikeouts (-350)

According to props.cash, Shane McClanahan has recorded at least five strikeouts in 10 of his 11 trips to the mound in 2023, with the one exception being an intra-division affair against the New York Yankees. McClanahan does not have an extremely favorable matchup tonight against the San Diego Padres, which rank 7th-best in strikeout percentage against left-handed pitching during June – making the alt-line more appealing than the default market number in this spot.

Fernando Tatis 3+ Total Bases (+175)

Fernando Tatis has been underwhelming overall since rejoining the big leagues earlier this season. However, he has been anything but underwhelming against southpaws, against which he owns a .319 batting average, 1.163 OPS, and a .426 ISO. His 211 wRC+ against left-handed pitching is 111% better than the league average hitter in that span. McClanahan is far from an easy matchup, but all nine of McClanahan’s home runs allowed in 2023 have come to right-handed batters. This is a worthwhile stab for bettors in this spot.

Tampa Bay Rays Moneyline (-108)

In this matchup, the Tampa Bay Rays have the better starting pitcher and the better bullpen, but the San Diego Padres have the more potent offensive attack. Both bullpens have mild usage concerns of which to be mindful, but we are rolling with the Rays in this spot due to the starting pitching advantage. As long as Shane McClanahan pitches well, this will be Tampa Bay’s game to lose.
