MLB Parlay Piece for June 8, 2023
- Justin Verlander o5.5 Strikeouts
- Spencer Strider o8.5 Strikeouts
- Mets Moneyline
Justin Verlander o5.5 Strikeouts (-110)
Clint Vondrak is behind the plate calling balls and strikes tonight, which is a boon to pitcher strikeouts across the board in this contest. Justin Verlander is coming off of an 8-strikeout performance against the Toronto Blue Jays – a team that has struck out less often against right-handed pitching than any other team in baseball except for the Washington Nationals since May 25. In that same time frame, the Atlanta Braves rank 9th, making this a tenable matchup to target Verlander’s over.
Spencer Strider o8.5 Strikeouts (+110)
In 12 turns through the rotation this year, Spencer Strider has yet to have a game with fewer than seven strikeouts, meaning that he has consistently been competitive at or around this market number of 8.5. Tonight, he gets a matchup with the New York Mets, which struck out eight times against Bryce Elder last night – someone who has far worse stuff than Strider. Even against a high-contact New York lineup, Strider has the potential to hit the over in this spot.
Mets Moneyline (+166)
The New York Mets have lost each of their last five games, but they are far from a bad baseball team. The Mets have lost each of those games by two runs or less and have held a lead in multiple of those contests. Tonight is an early-season must-win situation for the Mets, with the risk of falling 8.5 games out of first place if they lose this matchup. Looking for a long shot on Thursday, this is a worthwhile inclusion in a parlay for the betting community.
