On Tuesday, MLB fans have a rare 16-game slate on tap. The action begins in Philadelphia at 4:05 p.m. EST, but the other 15 contests all have an evening start time, giving the community plenty of time to find a few plays to their liking.

On Thursday, we cashed a +758 parlay thanks to some timely hitting from the Los Angeles Dodgers! On Friday, we fell one total base short of going back-to-back on our longshot parlays. On Saturday, we were one strikeout away from cashing +1057. On Sunday Night Baseball, we cashed a +837 parlay thanks to a late home run from Mookie Betts. Yesterday, we cashed another +711 parlay thanks to a 9th-inning rally by the San Francisco Giants. Now we go for three in a row in this article!

Not counting the All-Star Game, we have cashed eight tickets in this article, narrowly missed 22 winners, and had 17 tickets seemingly dead on arrival. Playing longshot parlays each day, these results are within the parameters of what is expected. As we highlight every day, these plays have been exceptionally profitable if played as individual tickets.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 79-58-1 (57.6%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+980) look for August 8, focusing on the matchup between the Colorado Rockies and Milwaukee Brewers!

MLB Parlay Piece for August 8, 2023

William Contreras 2+ Total Bases (-135)

Entering play on Tuesday, Kyle Freeland owns a disastrous 5.72 FIP, 1.55 WHIP, and has allowed a .305 opponent batting average to right-handed hitters this year. Making matters worse, he has been even less effective on the road. Tonight, he will have to contend with William Contreras, who has destroyed left-handed pitching to the tune of a 1.008 OPS, .291 ISO, and a 169 wRC+ this year. Do not be surprised if Contreras leaves the yard in this contest.

Mark Canha 2+ Total Bases (+130)

During the off-season, Mark Canha commented that he was finally able to invest in his body thanks to a larger contract, which he hoped would translate to better results on the field. Unfortunately, he has most floundered in 2023, which ultimately led to him being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers prior to the deadline. Canha has continued to disappoint since coming over to his new team, but he still remains a viable bat against left-handed pitching – posting a .728 OPS and a 104 wRC+ across the platoon this season. Facing Kyle Freeland is one of the more favorable matchups that Canha is going to get – roll the dice on an extra-base hit here.

Wade Miley 6+ Strikeouts (+162)

It is impossible to overstate how poor this Colorado Rockies lineup has been against southpaws in recent weeks. According to props.cash, each of the last seven left-handed starters to face the Rockies has recorded at least five strikeouts. Since July 14th, Colorado ranks dead-last in strikeout percentage against left-handed pitching, with an incredulous 31.1% punchout rate. Wade Miley is far from an elite pitcher, but he has 13 strikeouts across his last two starts – with both of those outings coming against fairly high-contact offenses. This is a worthwhile inclusion in today’s longshot parlay.
