On Wednesday, MLB fans have a rare 15-game slate, with three afternoon contests and 12 evening affairs to satisfy a variety of different betting palates. Three of today’s games have a scheduled first pitch of 9:38 pm EST or later, giving the community plenty of time to find a few plays to their liking.

On Thursday, we cashed a +758 parlay thanks to some timely hitting from the Los Angeles Dodgers! On Friday, we fell one total base short of going back-to-back on our longshot parlays. On Saturday, we were one strikeout away from cashing +1057. On Sunday Night Baseball, we cashed a +837 parlay thanks to a late home run from Mookie Betts. Yesterday, we cashed another +711 parlay thanks to a 9th-inning rally by the San Francisco Giants. We just missed a third consecutive win yesterday, falling short on Wade Miley’s strikeouts. Today, we look to get back in the win column!

Not counting the All-Star Game, we have cashed eight tickets in this article, narrowly missed 23 winners, and had 17 tickets seemingly dead on arrival. Playing longshot parlays each day, these results are within the parameters of what is expected. As we highlight every day, these plays have been exceptionally profitable if played as individual tickets.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 81-59-1 (57.9%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

MLB Parlay Piece for August 9, 2023

Los Angeles Angels -1.5 (+150)

Before last night, the Los Angeles Angels had lost seven consecutive contests but were competitive in most of those defeats – losing twice by a single run and blowing a couple of 9th-inning leads. Yesterday, they got back on track with a 7-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Tonight, they hand the ball to their ace, Shohei Ohtani, looking to start a winning streak. The Angels have the better starting pitcher and the better offense in this matchup – trust them to get the job done here as they continue to push for a playoff berth.

Shohei Ohtani to Record a Hit (-195)

According to props.cash, Shohei Ohtani has recorded a hit in 82 of his 113 games played this season. He has been at his best against right-handed pitching, with a .328 batting average, 1.139 OPS, and a 200 wRC+. In the first inning tonight, he will face right-hander Ryan Walker, who is primarily used as a reliever. Expect to see Ohtani on base at some point this evening. This is good value to add a leg in today’s longshot parlay.

Shohei Ohtani 10+ Strikeouts (+340)

It’s not often that we can put together a same-game-parlay and have nearly every leg rest on the shoulders of one person. In tonight’s unique situation, Shohei Ohtani has the potential to single-handedly cash two legs of this parlay, and he will have a lot of influence over whether or not the Los Angeles Angels cover the run line as well. In 21 starts this year, Ohtani has amassed double-digit strikeouts six times, including four times in 12 outings at home. On Wednesday, he will face a San Francisco Giants lineup that ranks 21st in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching since July 25th. Sit back and enjoy the Sho!
