Since we began posting this article, we have had eight near misses, three cashed tickets, and four parlays that were seemingly dead on arrival – all things that bettors can expect to happen when combining multiple plus-money outcomes. Overall, these plays are 26-18 (59.1%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

MLB Parlay Piece for June 14, 2023

Yandy Diaz 3+ Total Bases (+220)

Yandy Diaz is not the biggest household name in Major League Baseball, but he ranks in the 98th percentile in HardHit%, 99th percentile in average exit velocity, and the 100th percentile in bicep circumference. Facing right-handed pitching this season, Diaz has posted a 176 wRC+, meaning that he has been 76% better than the league-average hitter in these situations. His .323 batting average and .962 OPS against right-handed pitching give him a great opportunity to have a big night at the plate against one of the worst pitchers in the American League.

Tyler Glasnow 8+ Strikeouts (-225)

Since returning from the injured list, Tyler Glasnow has struck out 20 batters in 15.2 innings of work, including an 8-strikeout performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers in 4.1 innings. Since May 15, the Oakland Athletics rank 24th out of 30 teams in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching. During the month of June, Oakland ranks 25th in contact% on pitches inside the strike zone, a concerning statistic ahead of tonight’s matchup against Glasnow, who ranked in the 98th percentile in whiff rate in 2021 – his last qualifying season. There could be plenty of swings and misses in this ballgame from the home underdogs.

Tampa Bay Rays -3.5 (+158)

Prior to the Oakland Athletics winning their last seven contests, they were 12-50 and on pace for the worst record in the modern era (1901-present) of baseball. Despite losing their last two games, the Tampa Bay Rays still have the best record in baseball this year by a four-game margin over the Baltimore Orioles. Tonight, the Rays have the far better starting pitcher, the better offense, and a better bullpen. Following an emotional night at the ballpark yesterday, it is likely that the Athletics have a major letdown performance in this spot. The alt-line is worth including in this longshot ticket on Wednesday.
