MLB Underdog Fantasy Player Predictions for Thursday (5/1)

Verlander of the Giants

I’m here to give you a (free!) peek behind the curtain regarding some of the awesome things our MLB DFS projections team is cooking up by giving you my top picks for today’s MLB slate on Underdog Fantasy.

Every single pick you will find below is going to be based on what our projections say is a meaningful edge.

Don’t forget to check out our MLB weather page, which is curated by our Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth, to see how that may impact these picks as the day progresses. And you can always stay up to date on exactly what a team’s lineup is by heading to our MLB starting lineups page.

We have 11 games on the MLB schedule for 5/1. Below, I’ll detail how I’m approaching things on Underdog for this Wednesday slate.

Underdog Fantasy – one of the most popular DFS pick’em sites – provides player projections for MLB matchups each day. It is then up to the user to decide whether a player will ultimately exceed or fall short of those projections in the games. With a huge roster of players available from which to choose, we just need to make a minimum of two picks to build an entry.

I’ll be leaning heavily on our projections and our fantasy pick’em tool for making these Underdog picks today. Be sure to check out the tool to look for even more edges.

Underdog Fantasy Top MLB Picks for 5/1

Now that you’re signed up, here are some of our top MLB picks on Underdog for 5/1 at a glance:

Rockies vs. Giants MLB Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Rockies vs. Giants MLB Underdog Fantasy predictions for today:

Justin Verlander Lower Than 6.5 Pitcher Strikeouts

Justin Verlander is projected by us to achieve fewer than 6.5 Pitcher Strikeouts. Our simulations reveal a 2.3% edge and show a 60.1% chance of success.

These projections suggest that choosing lower than 6.5 Pitcher Strikeouts is a solid pick, as the figure aligns with a fairly moderate outlook on his performance.

Tigers vs. Angels MLB Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Tigers vs. Angels MLB Underdog Fantasy predictions for today:

Yusei Kikuchi Lower Than 1.5 Walks Allowed

Yusei Kikuchi is projected by us to achieve fewer than 1.5 Walks Allowed. Our simulations reveal a 2.2% edge and show a 47.0% chance of success.

These projections indicate that selecting less than 1.5 Walks Allowed is a +EV pick over the long run. The 47% chance in our sims looks deceiving, but we’re getting a 1.29x multiplier on this one.

Royals vs. Rays MLB Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Royals vs. Rays MLB Underdog Fantasy predictions for today:

Seth Lugo Higher Than 4.5 Pitcher Strikeouts

Seth Lugo is projected by us to achieve more than 4.5 Pitcher Strikeouts. Our simulations reveal a 1.6% edge and show a 68.8% chance of success.

These projections indicate that selecting more than 4.5 Pitcher Strikeouts is a strong pick, as the figure aligns with Lugo to exceed this number at a high clip.
