NBA Odds & Betting Picks for Today: Memphis Grizzlies at Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets are 1.5-point home favorites and the point total is 224 at online sports betting sites. Here’s a look at NBA odds and betting picks for today, Wednesday, March 4th, 2020.
NBA Betting Picks for Today: Grizzlies at Nets
Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets have changed drastically from the start of the season to this point. A lot of that has to do with the varying health statuses of different players throughout the season.
At one point, the Nets were led by Kyrie Irving. With Irving being the focal piece of offense, all things ran through him. However, that has changed as the Nets have learned to play without their star point guard. Right now, the Nets are led by Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert.
The Nets, who are 4-6 in their last 10 games, currently hang on to the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 27-33. They have been a much better team at home this season going 16-13 straight up and 16-13 ATS compared to 11-20 straight up and 13-18 ATS on the road. Luckily, they’ll be playing in the comfort of their home arena Wednesday night.
The Nets are on the second end of a back-to-back stealing one from a wounded Boston Celtics team. During the victory Cris LeVert went for 51 real life points (no, this wasn’t a 2K eSports game).
The Nets rely heavily on both LeVert and DeAndre Jordan every night. Just look at their minutes played last night. The two players were on the court 35+ minutes while Dinwiddie and Jarrett Allen were limited to 23 and 18 minutes respectively. For DFS purposes, I think we could see Dinwiddie and Allen get more run tonight in a positive fantasy scoring environment for both players.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzles enter Wednesday night healthy as they look to pick up a much needed win. Memphis one had a comfy lead for the eighth and final seed in the Western Conference, but their playoff chances are shortening as the Portland Trailblazers, Sacramento Kings, San antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans all inch closer during the final stretch of the NBA season.
Their playoff hopes aren’t the only thing shortening. So too are “(player-popup #ja-morant)Ja Morant”‘s Rookie of the Year odds. Zion Williamson has launched a late Rookie of the Year campaign as he tries to steal a playoff birth from fellow rookie sensation Morant. In fact, Williamson is slated to play in his first professional back-to-back against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night.
While the Pelicans and others are on the up-and-up, the Memphis Grizzlies have been nothing more than mediocre since returning from All-Star weekend. Memphis is only three games ahead of the Kings and 3.5 games ahead of the Blazers. Overall, the Grizzlies are one game under .500 with a record of 30-3. They’re 4-6 in their last 10.
The Grizzlies have been slightly better at home this season, going 17-14 straight up and 18-13 ATS compared to 13-17 straight up and 14-15-1 ATS on the road. Over the last two games, the Grizzlies have played very well, beating the Lakers at home and blowing out the Hawks by 39 points in Atlanta.
One reason for the Grizzlies disappointing stretch after the All-Star break has been due to the poor shooting of Dillon Brooks, who has shot around 30% from the field. However, it appears Brooks is getting things together over this last three games.
Keep in mind, the Grizzlies will be without Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brandon Clarke Wednesday. They lose some size as result, but a matchup against the Nets shouldn’t be a problem.
Overall, the Grizzlies seem like they are in the better spot. They come into this game fully rested while the Nets return from a draining night as they played extra minutes in overtime. Both teams are similarly matched and we are getting the Grizzlies as a slight dog.
NBA Betting Picks: Grizzlies +1.5
As I stated earlier, this is a great spot for the Grizzlies. While both teams are fighting for a playoff spot, the Nets are much closer to locking a spot up than the Grizzlies and they come into this game with very little rest. The Grizzlies, in my view, are the better team even if they’re missing a lot of their season. I think that the Grizzlies win this one pretty easily.
