NBA Betting Picks for Today: Lakers at Nets
The Lakers come into this game in slightly worse shape then they’ve been all season. After starting off the season with a 32-7 record, they have lost two of their last five. However, those are their only two losses in their last 10 games. During this stretch, they were without Anthony Davis for five games. Since returning to the starting lineup, the Lakers have limited Davis’ minutes. Davis is questionable for Thursday night, but I expect both Davis and LeBron James to be on the floor.
Looking at this game at a glance, it doesn’t seem like a favorable one for the Lakers. The Lakers are playing on the second end of a back-to-back, and the fourth game of a 5 game road trip. But on a micro level, the Lakers are in a great spot to cover. The Lakers played in New York last night and will only have to travel a few miles to take on the Nets. Additionally, The Lakers have been one of the few teams in the league with a better record on the road than at home going 19-4 straight up on the road compared to 16-5 at home. Add in that the Lakers are 5-0 straight up and 4-1 ATS on back-to-backs this season, and this looks like a great spot for the Lakers to cover.
Unlike the Lakers, the Nets come into this game in poor form. The Nets are 2-8 in their last 10, and although they have had Kyrie Irving active in their last four games, it’s been a rusty return with the Nets going 1-3 in that span. The Nets have been a better team at home this season going going 11-11 compared to 7-13 on the road, but even at full strength, the Lakers are the far superior team.
NBA Betting Picks: Lakers -5
If you couldn’t tell already, I really like the Lakers in this spot. To be clear, there is a chance that the Lakers end up sitting either Lebron or Davis tonight. While I don’t think that is the likely scenario, I like the Lakers regardless. Still, it is worth monitoring for NBA betting and daily fantasy sports.
Either way, the Lakers match up well against the Brooklyn Nets and are comfortable playing on the road. Additionally, this is a revenge spot against Irving; I expect LeBron to take over this game, leading the Lakers to an easy against the Brooklyn Nets and his former teammate Kyrie Irving.
