NBA Daily Plays (Tournament Edition): Friday, Jan. 17
Another Friday and another huge night of tournaments and qualifiers. We have a $215 qualifier on DS tonight, huge tournaments on both FD and DK, and some smaller tournaments across the rest of the industry. As always, the Friday daily plays will focus on players that have an extremely high ceiling that should make good plays in qualifiers and GPP’s.

Guards

- Brandon Jennings – Jennings is one of the more inconsistent fantasy players in the NBA, but that’s not a bad thing when we are talking about GPP’s. In his last 4 games alone, his fantasy point production has ranged from 19 FP’s to 44 FP’s. He has incredible upside thanks to his ability to get hot and create his own shot whenever he wants it. He is facing a Jazz team tonight that is ranked 19th at defending the PG position this season. Jennings has a great chance of topping 40 FP’s tonight.
- Kyle Lowry – Lowry is a much more consistent fantasy player than Jennings, but he has similar upside. Lowry can do everything on the floor well which really helps his fantasy value. Lowry has topped 40 FP’s in 5 of his last 8 games and has a good shot of topping that mark again tonight against the Wolves who are ranked 22nd against PG’s this season. Lowry has a favorable matchup against Rubio and he should be able to exploit that all game long.
- Kendall Marshall – Marshall is the cheapest PG that I have listed in the daily plays, but he has just as much upside as the other two. Marshall doesn’t have the prettiest game in the NBA, but he gets the job done and really runs D’Antoni’s offense well. On first glance, you may think that the matchup against the Celtics is a bad one, but Rondo is making his season debut and I don’t he does much on the defensive end of the floor tonight. Marshall should attack Rondo and create some easy looks for his teammates. He is a very sneaky play tonight.
Forwards

- LeBron James – LeBron rarely makes my list of GPP plays, but there are two big reasons to target him tonight. The first, and most obvious, is the fact that he is playing the Sixers who own the worst defense in the league. The second is the fact that he really wants to come out and prove all of his critics wrong. After being called out for coasting through the season, LeBron told everyone to watch and see the type of numbers he put up against the Wizards. They weren’t great. I think what LeBron meant was, watch what I do against the Sixers. This could be the best game of the year for Bron.
- Jared Sullinger – Sullinger is one of my favorite plays of the night. I was tempted to put Jeff Green here, but something just isn’t right with Green and he has been nowhere to be found over the last two games. Sullinger is coming off of a monster performance against the Raptors and he should be able to back it up tonight against the Lakers who have been the worst team in the league at defending PF’s. Look for Sully to have another solid double-double tonight against this weak interior of the Lakers.
- Gerald Green – Green is listed as a SG on some sites and as a SF on other sites, but he makes a solid play regardless. I was really high on Green the other night against the Lakers and he bounced out of his slump just like I thought he would. He has another great matchup tonight against the Mavericks. Monta Ellis will be defending him and Green has to have at least a 6-inch height advantage. The Suns will look to exploit this mis-match all game.
Centers
- Miles Plumlee – None of the more expensive Centers have really caught my attention for tonight. They all seem to be either overpriced or in a tough matchup. I think this could be a night to target the cheaper Centers. Plumlee is always a low-owned player and that’s never a bad thing as far as a GPP is concerned. Plumlee is averaging over 30 FP’s per game at home this season and the Mavericks have really struggled to defend the Center position. He is one of my top sleepers tonight.
