NBA Daily Plays (Tournament Edition): Friday, Nov. 29th
It’s a big Friday night in the industry and there are big tournaments across the board. In honor of these big tournaments and qualifiers, todays daily plays are going to be focused on players that have a high ceiling. Keep in mind that tournament plays differ from cash game plays. They are a bit more risky, but have higher upside.

Point Guard

- Russell Westbrook – Westbrook is coming off of a terrible 2/16 shooting performance against the Spurs, but one of the great things about the NBA is that he gets to jump right back into it a couple of days later. His matchup against the Warriors is a very favorable one, Curry is too small to defend Westbrook and he should be able to push the pace against this Warriors defense. While his shooting % is a concern, he has as much upside as any other PG tonight.
- Patrick Beverley – If you are looking for a cheap PG that has good upside and that will be under-owned tonight, Beverley is your guy. Shaun Livingston will likely be the more popular pick here, but I think Beverley outplays him. With Lin ruled out for a couple of weeks, that should open up both minutes and production for Beverley. He is a lock to put up 20 FP’s tonight and don’t be surprised if he puts up 30.
Shooting Guard
- Gordon Hayward – Hayward has been all over the map this season, but he is one of the few players in his price range that can potentially put up 40+ fantasy points. He is facing the Suns at home tonight and should play well here. Hayward put up an incredible line of 18, 10, and 8 in their first matchup this season. His price has come down, but the upside is still there.
- Eric Gordon – Gordon is probably my favorite play on DraftStreet tonight and makes a solid play on other sites as well. His price has come down and he has the best matchup on the board. The Sixers have the worst defense in the league and Gordon should get plenty of open looks. For the price, it’s hard to beat his value. He’s in play for both tournaments and cash games.
Small Forward

- Paul George – When you talk about potential upside, George is at the very top of that list. He can fill up every single stat category and can catch fire and take over games offensively. I like the matchup tonight against the uptempo Wizards who are very turnover prone. While Anthony Davis will likely be the most popular star player used tonight, George is a bit cheaper and has similar upside.
- Jeff Green – Green has been extremely frustrating this season, but every time I try to write him off completely, he ends up having a big game. Green is coming off of his best game of the season in which he put up 27 points and 6 rebounds against a very tough Grizzlies defense. Maybe that can kick-start him and make him realize that he needs to be more aggressive.
Power Forward
- Ryan Anderson – Like I said above, I think everyone will be taking Anthony Davis tonight thanks to his matchup against the Sixers, but for tournaments, I like Ryan Anderson better. He will be less owned tonight and is playing in the same matchup. Anderson is seeing 30+ minutes off the bench and can get hot at any time. He’s much cheaper than Davis and will likely end up scoring more points (actual points) than him.
- Channing Frye – Frye has been on fire lately. He’s scored over 25 FP’s in 5 of his last 6 games and has put up 44 and 35 FP’s in his last two games. The Jazz are undersized right now with Marvin Williams starting at PF. Look for Frye to keep up his hot play. The best part about Frye is that his price has yet to reflect his production so he is still cheap across the board.
Center
- Andre Drummond – Drummond has a great matchup tonight against the Lakers who have been one of the worst interior defenses all season long. Both Monroe and Drummond make solid plays here, but Drummond has been the better rebounder of the two and could see plenty of putbacks against this bad defense.
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck tonight!
