NBA DFS Lineup Advice Today

We have 5 games in the NBA tonight, but there is a slight difference between the sites as FanDuel is giving us just the first 4 games on the main slate, leaving off the 10:00 PM ET matchup between DEN/LAC. All 5 games are available on DraftKings. While it’s late-season April NBA action, we do have a meaningful game as the Rockets are at home facing Golden State, the team they trail in the race for the last play-in spot. There are some injury notes to keep an eye on, but the injury reports aren’t as long as they have been in recent days, so let’s hope things stay that way with no surprises.

Let’s sort through the slate and figure out what to do with our DFS lineups.

Top NBA DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel

High Flyers

Who are the players I’m picking first for my squad? These guys are the first selections for both my cash game and tournament lineups, and I’ll sacrifice elsewhere, if need be, to ensure I get them in:

Fred VanVleet
FanDuel: $8,500
DraftKings: $7,900

Fred VanVleet had a handful of sub-par fantasy games shortly after Alperen Sengun got injured, putting up games of 7 NBA points against Washington and 9 NBA points against Chicago, but he has turned things on recently averaging 19.3 points and 2.7 steals over his past 6 games. Tonight, Houston is at home playing a Golden State team they trail for the last play-in spot in a must-win game, so I expect VanVleet to play his typical big minutes, and he’s available for a price tag that hasn’t increased much since Sengun’s injury in mid-March.

Jalen Johnson
FanDuel: $7,600
DraftKings: $6,900

If you weren’t paying attention to basketball last night you may have missed Malachi Flynn scoring 50 NBA points off the bench, but Jalen Johnson actually outscored Flynn for fantasy purposes with a 28-point, 14-rebound, 11-assist triple-double. It was Johnson’s first start since suffering an ankle injury in mid-March, and he is now averaging 1.17 DK points per minute with Trae Young off the court this season.

Site Specialists

Just like a good 3-and-D small forward, sometimes a player fits the specific need we have on the specific site we’re playing on. These are the guys that stand out on one particular site:
