NBA DFS Lineup Advice Today

Thursday night brings a 6-game slate on DraftKings but just a 4-game slate on FanDuel, as the latter removed the two 10:00 PM ET games.

The action tips off on both sites at 7:30 PM ET with one game, as the Suns visit the Celtics in Boston (Celtics -5.5, 225.5). Jaylen Brown is listed as questionable for the Celtics and Eric Gordon is questionable for the Suns, but we should have this information prior to slate lock.

At 8:00 PM ET we get three games – the Clippers visiting Chicago (Clippers -6, 214.5), the 76ers in Milwaukee (Bucks -7.5, 219), and Washington in Houston (Rockets -8.5, 227.5). There are some important injury considerations in each game. Coby White is officially listed as questionable but looking unlikely to play for Chicago, while James Harden and Kawhi Leonard are questionable for the Clippers. In the WAS/HOU game, Richaun Holmes is out for Washington while the Rockets are still underpriced for the team missing Alperen Sengun. In Milwaukee, Malik Beasley is questionable for the Bucks.

On FanDuel, our slate ends there, but on DraftKings, we have two more games at 10:00 PM ET. Dallas faces the Thunder in Oklahoma City without Luka Doncic, giving a major boost to the remaining Mavericks players. The Knicks face the Trail Blazers in Portland, with Jabari Walker questionable for Portland.

Let’s sort through the slate and figure out what to do with our DFS lineups.

Top NBA DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel

High Flyers

Who are the players I’m picking first for my squad? These guys are the first selections for both my cash game and tournament lineups, and I’ll sacrifice elsewhere, if need be, to ensure I get them in:

Fred VanVleet
FanDuel: $8,100
DraftKings: $8,300

VanVleet returns as a repeat High Flyer from Tuesday, with FanDuel raising his price just $100 and DraftKings raising it just $400 despite his 21 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals against San Antonio. As a result, VanVleet is still underpriced for a Rockets team without Sengun, and now they get to face Washington. Houston couldn’t ask for a better matchup in their second full game without Sengun, as the Wizards once again hold the “poor defense” triple crown of allowing the most points, rebounds, and assists per game in the NBA.

Giannis Antetokounmpo
FanDuel: $11,800
DraftKings: $11,400

The MIL/PHI game could get overlooked with major injury situations in other places, but Giannis is always capable of breaking a slate and is projected for under 20% ownership on FanDuel and 10% on DraftKings. Through 5 games in March, Giannis is averaging 33.4 points, 7.6 assists, and 36 minutes per game, his highest monthly averages in each category this season, and this game has a healthy 220-point total. We have value with so many players out, and with more value possibly on the way with the current players listed questionable, spending up for Giannis is easier than it usually is.

Kyrie Irving
DraftKings: $8,400

The Dallas game appearing only on DraftKings now makes a major difference between the sites, with Luka’s absence giving a major boost to the rest of the Dallas players. Kyrie will likely end up as one of the most popular players on DraftKings, and he should be, priced at only $8,400 without Luka. The DAL/OKC game has the highest total on the slate, and Kyrie averages 53 DK points per 36 minutes with Luka off the court this season compared to his normal average of 45.6.

Site Specialists

Just like a good 3-and-D small forward, sometimes a player fits the specific need we have on the specific site we’re playing on. These are the guys that stand out on one particular site:
