Core Plays LIVE: NBA DFS Picks for Friday, November 8th
A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career and has long been one of the top NBA DFS minds in the industry. On weekends, Taylor Smith takes the reins. Their Core Plays LIVE article will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, Core Plays LIVE has everything you need for your DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.
Happy Friday!
My mother is having some minor surgery today. I agreed to take her when it was originally scheduled. She didn’t mention that the hospital was an hour away or that I had to wait until the surgery was finished, but I’d do anything for her, so no biggie. It’s not ideal, but I will be writing today’s NBA Core Plays from my car in the hospital’s parking lot. I tried to work in the lobby, but I much prefer being in my own space, even if it’s my car.
We have 13 games on the schedule. Four teams are playing on the front end of a back-to-back (Hawks, Nets, Cavaliers, Clippers), and three teams playing on the back end of a back-to-back (Wolves, Bucks, Blazers). As we have seen all season, DraftKings has left the super late games off their main slate (11 games), while FanDuel has included them in their main slate (13 games). It’s nice to have options, so I don’t mind the different slate sizes.
Cheers to the weekend. Let’s dive into the games.

Team Previews
Atlanta Hawks (at DET)
DeAndre Hunter, Vit Krejci, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Cody Zeller, and Kobe Bufkin are all out for the Hawks. The Pistons have been an elite matchup in the past but are 27th in pace and 8th in points allowed per game this season. I don’t have much interest in the Hawks on this large slate. Trae Young can certainly get there, but he’s priced at a premium. Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu are stuck in an unappealing timeshare. Zaccharie Risacher is coming off of a game with 59 fantasy points, but he’s failed to meet salary-based expectations in 4 of his last 6 games. I’m buying into the improved defense of the Pistons and will be fading the Hawks.
