Core Plays LIVE: NBA DFS Picks for Saturday, November 23rd
A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career and has long been one of the top NBA DFS minds in the industry. On weekends, Taylor Smith takes the reins. Their Core Plays LIVE article will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, Core Plays LIVE has everything you need for your DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.
Happy Saturday! I saw Noto was asking ChatGPT to write him previews for Core Plays LIVE earlier in the week, so I’ve decided to take a page out of his book. Here’s what ChatGPT wrote when I asked it to write me a quick intro:
Bleep. Bloop. Bleep.
Couldn’t have said it better myself! We’re in good hands, folks, that’s for sure.
Anyway, we’re looking at a solid 6-game slate to tip off the weekend. This slate features quite a few teams playing for the 2nd time in as many nights, but remember these are not NBA Cup games. There are also quite a few injuries to sort through, and it’s safe to assume we’ll have some unexpected injury news breaking later on with so many teams on the latter halves of back-to-back sets.
Let’s dive in.

Team Previews
Detroit Pistons (at ORL)
The Pistons seem to play wild, close games every night, as was the case on Thursday when they fell to Charlotte in overtime. The loss came at an extra cost, as Cade Cunningham went down with a pelvic injury that’ll keep him out of the lineup tonight in Orlando. Ausar Thompson is questionable to make his season debut as well. Taking Cunningham out of the lineup will open up tons of usage and everything else for this team, but they also have a paltry 99-point implied team total against one of the NBA’s best defenses. As a result, nothing really pops here in projections. Jaden Ivey (+6.9%) and Tobias Harris (+4.8%) predictably see usage upticks without Cade, and we’re expecting Ivey to run point with Tim Hardaway Jr. joining the starting lineup. Ivey is somewhat alluring given his projected role, but it’s just hard to imagine the Pistons scoring enough points to really crush from a DFS standpoint. I’ll mix them into multi-entry GPP builds, but I’d be more interested in a better matchup.
