NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, January 31
Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?
Notorious: Tyrese Maxey
Dean78904: Giannis Antetokounmpo
tcsmith031: Giannis Antetokounmpo
TJ Zwarych: Tyrese Maxey
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Notorious: I prefer single-entry tournaments. This is a slate where I want to be overweight on the Sixers. Despite missing Joel Embiid, Paul George, Andre Drummond, Caleb Martin, KJ Martin, and Jared McCain, they have a team total that is higher than their season average. Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre are two of my favorite plays on the slate.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field tournaments. Occasionally, I want to share some stats I found interesting, so here we go. Immanuel Quickley has missed the last 8 games. Over that time, the Raptors have the NBA’s #1 defensive rating. Quickley is currently questionable for tonight. Over the last 15 games, the Clippers and Hornets have 2 of the NBA’s 3 top-rated defenses. The LAC/CHA game has a 208.5 total. That is 21 points lower than the next-closest game. With that in mind, I’m looking to get away from this game, especially the Hornets, namely Moussa Diabate, who currently projects to be popular.

tcsmith031: I’ll be rolling through the 20-max streets, as usual. Paying all the way up for at least one $10,000+ stud will be difficult to resist, but I do think a more balanced build is a viable approach in GPPs. Building around some of the midrange values on both sides of the CHI/TOR game (e.g. Nikola Vucevic, Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett) is appealing, while I like Damian Lillard as a spend projecting for lower ownership if you’re brave enough to fade Giannis Antetokounmpo.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 150 entries in large-field contests and will try to get as much exposure as possible to the CHI/TOR game. Coby White is significantly underpriced (even if Zach LaVine was available), and the entire Bulls team looks incredible. I plan to have at least 3 players from this game in every single lineup I build.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
