What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. This feels like the last day of the regular season type of slate. We have more value than we know what to do with. Between the Raptors and Thunder, we had enough value for a few slates. And now, Jalen Brunson has been ruled out for the Knicks, which opens up value in their backcourt. My goal tonight is to find some value plays that project well without a ton of ownership. There should be a lot of them this evening.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field contests. Toronto teammates Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley are both projecting strong and are expected to be popular. This makes sense as Toronto is thin and the Jazz have the NBA’s worst defense, but I just don’t trust the Raptors to play their best players full minutes. We are in tanking season, and both these teams are better suited to losing. Last game, Barnes and Quickley played less than a combined six minutes in the 4th quarter of a 1-point game they ironically ended up winning. Will Toronto continue to be so blatant with their intentions if the situation calls for it tonight? I have no idea, but I think there is a non-zero chance we get more shenanigans, and I’m good coming in under the field. Conversely, I’ll be more willing to lean in on less talented Raptors like Chris Boucher, AJ Lawson, Orlando Robinson, and Ja’Kobe Walter.
tcsmith031: I’ll play the usual mix of 20-max and single-entry contests. The Thunder offer a boatload of cheap plays with most of their starters resting, but they are hardly the only source of good value on this slate. I’m considering a max of 2 cheap Thunder pieces to try and take advantage of good value elsewhere, including options from the Raptors, Kings, and Knicks. I also like the idea of being overweight on Jonas Valanciunas, Zach LaVine, and Keegan Murray in GPPs, with DeMar DeRozan projecting to be the chalkiest of the Kings.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll be running 150 lineups on DraftKings in large-field contests. I’ll likely be fading the first game of the slate entirely, especially if we don’t get news before lock on the plethora of players with questionable tags like Nikola Jokic, Chet Holmgren, Tyler Herro, and Andrew Wiggins, to name a few. I’ll be loading up on the Kings, Raptors, and Thunder and likely try to cut a few teams completely out, like the Cavaliers, Hornets, and Knicks, to lessen my player pool.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
