NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, October 25

Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?

Notorious: Paolo Banchero
SquirrelPatrol: Jalen Brunson
Dean78904: Zach LaVine
tcsmith031: Zach LaVine

Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Scottie Barnes – The Raptors didn’t put up much of a fight in their opener against the Cavaliers, and Barnes finished with only 23 fantasy points. Even though Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett are both expected to miss tonight’s game, Barnes is checking in at sub-10% pOWN% on both sites. I’m not letting one bad game get in the way of me targeting him in an increased usage spot against Sixers without Paul George and Joel Embiid. Barnes was tremendous in the preseason, averaging 1.39 DK / 1.34 FD points per minute.

SquirrelPatrol: Tyrese Maxey – Maxey attempted 31 shots in Philadelphia’s first game, the most shots anyone has taken in the NBA season so far. Without Joel Embiid and Paul George on the court, Maxey will be the primary source of offense for the 76ers, and tonight, he draws a matchup against a Toronto team that allowed the 6th-most points in the NBA last season.

Dean78904: Anthony Davis – It was only 1 game, but we may have seen the changing of the guard in LA. The offense first ran through The Brow (34.23% usage rate) under new coach JJ Redick, and Davis also played over 37 minutes. We can’t just assume this, but I think Davis now has a higher ceiling compared to his other seasons playing alongside LeBron James. Davis isn’t cheap, the center position is loaded, and we have a big-boy slate, so we’re currently projecting Davis to come in at less than 5% ownership. It is not hard to get over this number, and if I were MME’ing, I’d make a point in doing so.

tcsmith031: Josh Giddey – Giddey was largely terrible in his Bulls debut, and there’s certainly no guarantee he’ll be a good NBA player moving forward. What he has done historically, however, is produce fantasy points at a useful clip. He’s averaged 1.16 DK points per minute for his career, so his 0.75 FPPM production in the opener looks anomalous. Giddey should see around 30 minutes against Milwaukee, and his salaries have come down to $6,600 on DraftKings and $6,100 on FanDuel. There’s still triple-double upside here, so I’ll aim to get a bit north of the field on his projected ownership.
