NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, March 14

Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?

tcsmith031: Nikola Jokic
Krayton: Nikola Jokic
TJ Zwarych: Nikola Jokic

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

tcsmith031: I’ll focus on 20-max GPPs. Even on a slate without much appealing cheap value, I expect the field to make paying up for Nikola Jokic a priority. I’ll never fault anyone for doing so, but there are plenty of lower-owned alternatives who could fly under the radar as a result. Luka Doncic is the most obvious straight-line pivot at his similar salaries, and both players should push for 40 minutes in a game with huge playoff seeding implications. I also think there’s merit to rolling with a more balanced build as a result of the shaky value. Paolo Banchero and Jamal Murray are a couple of my favorite building blocks in balanced lineups.

Krayton: I will be playing single-entry contests along with 20-max contests on both sites. We have two elite spend-up options in Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic, and while I love both, there are multiple higher-end options that aren’t as expensive and have elite upside that I want to target in my 20-max contests. Jamal Murray, LeBron James, Bam Adebayo, Paolo Banchero, and Austin Reaves are all great options with nice upside. I want exposure to them, as they lead you to different builds on such a small slate. If you build around 2 or 3 of those players, you will be very different from the field. If Jokic and Doncic don’t have ceiling games, you could put yourself in a great position to win.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll just be playing one lineup in single-entry contests. While I plan to load up on the Orlando Magic, I’ll fade the chalky Jalen Suggs. I’ll likely go with the Nikola Jokic and Wendell Carter double-center pairing on DraftKings, and I like Jett Howard as a cheap punt play so I can potentially play Jokic and Luka Doncic together.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
